Seribu Islands Project to Provide Access to Clean Water

The Seribu Islands Regency Administration keeps striving to meet the clean water needs suitable for drinking for all residents.

Very grateful and thank you. I hope this assistance continues

This effort is being conducted in collaboration with The Antheia Project and Perumda PAM Jaya.

Seribu Islands Regent, Muhammad Fadjar Churniawan said, the government continues to seek long-term solutions for the limited clean water in the region. One of the efforts is the distribution of drinking water gallons and testing the prototype water purifier owned by PAM Jaya.

Council Urges PAM Jaya to Speed Up Water Infrastructure Development

"We continue to meet the basic needs of residents, starting with distributing gallon water to all heads of families in Seribu Islands. Until, the trial of processing seawater into drinking water using modern filtration technology," he expressed, Wednesday (6/11).

According to him, the efforts of PAM Jaya had been extraordinary, ranging from Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) and Brackish Water Reverse Osmosis (BWRO) programs to modern filtration technology prototypes.

However, the salt content in Seribu Islands is indeed very high, so residents must be patient and this project continues to progress gradually.

"Meanwhile, providing gallon water is not a permanent solution. However, this program will continue, and every household will receive regular refills," he explained.

He detailed the distribution of gallon water aid in each urban village, including 806 families on Untung Jawa Island, 1,135 families on Pari Island, and 1,791 families on Tidung Island.

Then 2,137 families on Panggang Island, 2,206 families on Kelapa Island, and 884 families on Harapan Island.

"Hopefully, this assistance will be beneficial. We also remain committed to ensuring that all residents on the islands have access to clean water and safe, suitable drinking water," he added.

The work received appreciation from one of the locals on Kelapa Island, Anggun (32). She admitted, the need for drinking water in the area was deemed to be very limited, especially the BWRO on Kelapa Island.

"Very grateful and thank you. I hope this assistance continues," he stated.
